Some gave all

I reflect on the last few years and with sadness, I remember those who have pasted, but with gladnness thank them for being a part of my life.
As we move on every day I try to make a difference. I try to contribute through my teachings and with laughter and humility
I try to be a part of our great society and give back by being a part of people I can relate with and whose views are similiar such as "Knights" Warriors for a peaceful society.
I belong to the Masons, The Scottish Rite, the Marine Corps League, The Patriotic Guard, and volunteered with the 6th PCT as an auxillary Cop, a volunteer with the Salvation Army bringing Firemen and women coffee and water, and I reach the community by going into ghettoes and freely teaching martial arts so they do not have to fight.
I constantly reach out for my brothers to stand along side me to combat Tramatic Brain Injuries, Pancreatic Cancer, Juvinelle diabeties and walk the elderly home, bring the handicapped food, read to the blind.
Somehow I like to believe we all do that, and I am not alone.
Somehow I like to think our texting youth are texting messages of hope and love rather than gossip and foolishness
I hope our men are not paralized to the couch and hypnotized to the "Game" and instead, playing with their sons and daughters or slow dancing with their wives, mothers or loved ones
I am among men in their 80s who have been to Iwo Jima and Corrigedor. I am among older people who wear numbered tattoos on their arms, and I cannot tell you the humbliness I feel being in their presence and the pride I take being their audience and relating their stories, for they made our humanity great, and they are the giants whose shoulders we are carried on.
Our young generation of electronic toys knows nothing of what we went through, nor do they care mostly, and that is sad. Very sad. Very hollow and empty.
I sat by my grandparents feet and said "Tell me more" and the stories were better than any television show or movie I have ever seen.
I could reach the past and pass it on to the future, if they chose to ask me, but most don't
All gave some
Some gave all.
I have recently Blogged on Hub Pages and Facebook for help. I who have been across most of the world and met so many and reached so many received 5 volunteers to help do a charity fund for wounded warriors, for our servicemen and women, for the Devil Dogs Tramatic Brain Injuries.
Very few gave even a response
What am I to think?
