Here is a special practice of Oizuki

Here is a special practice of Oizuki

1.  Here is a special practice of Oizuki that you make it with your breath from a relaxed stationary stance.
Stationary stance - in fudodachi without moving.

2.  This is a good practice in making a punch mainly with the breath strongly dispatched from the powerful trained breath pooled in your stomach by operating it at various directions according to the ‘’Hachiriki ‘’.

Making a punch - probably means gykuzuki - powerful trained breath pooled in your stomach -  use your breath to make the punch... pulling the breath and energy from just above the waist where ki comes from (Sensei says stomach) and think of the 8 hachiriki directions when doing a technique...inhale on upwards movements and exhale on downwards movements etc.
3  This can be done by a well trained breath working in harmony with a relaxed upper body, especially the lower part under a waist that follows like a shadow.

relaxed upper body -  do not tense up but just relax when doing the punch
under a waist that follows like a shadow - let the waist follow the breath.  breath initiates the movement

  4.  Generally speaking, in making any technique using the breath work is ideal, but the practice here is the one that shows high technique which is done easily but effective in its power and speed accompanied with the breath.

using the breath work is ideal - use the breath in all your techniques.  let your breath (inhalation and exhalation) determine the speed of the punch or kick. effective in its power and speed -   this takes years to achieve....you have to believe it and eventually it will come.  don't settle for the quick power from the muscle because when the muscles are weak then the technique is weak.  example: Funakoshi was a old man and small of stature that never lifted weights but yet was very powerful.

5..  The breath should be powerful and fast.  This means the whole body is accompanied with the breath.  The breath operates the whole body and can be utilized in making any technique.  In Oizuki the rear waist and heal must be kept with ki and the punch starts after catching the target in reality.

breath operates the whole body -  bring the power of the breath from the depths of the body and make it strong when making any technique.  let the breath control the technique not the body or muscles rear waist and heal must be kept with ki -  engergize the heal of the back foot when posing to make an oizuki.  fill it with ki....attach the heal and waist so they move together by firming up the muscles that connect the two. punch starts after catching the target in reality -   relax the muscles of the upper body especially the arms and shoulders.  in a relaxed fashion move the hand when doing oizuki toward the target and only at the moment of impact do you flex and firm up the body.  This is similar to Bruce Lee's "one-inch punch" where everything is relaxed until contact then you quickly flex the mucsles to send the ki out of the hands and into the target.

  6. In attaining this technique it may be useful as a first step. In stepping a rear foot forward, float it first and gradually put it down to the ground.
stepping a rear foot forward, float it first and gradually put it down to the ground -   when doing oizuki, the back foot moves forward in a floating fashion.  place the foot gently on the ground so as to not make a sound.  Do not stomp the ground...feel the ground under the foot with the sole of the foot being soft and not hard.  The oizuki should lack the of sound of the foot work.

  7.  This explanation is very rough and so if you would like to ask more in detail please ask me freely .  I am very sorry for my being very poor in the expression and I am doubtful if you could understand .

explanation is very rough - this is only a quick summation of the movement and is difficult to write down.   Like Musashi states in "A Book of Five Rings" many times...."you must study this to appreciate it"  or "Study this well"  or "It is very difficult to attain this by merely reading this book..."  also  "You must research this well."  etc etc etc
