We had an adult woman join us to get some exercise. Her name is Vicky or Vicki.
She is tall slim and dark haired. A nice looking woman and mother of a small child at the time.
Vicki could not understand how she could do Kata with only one arm. Oh did I not mention that?
See none of us precieved her as a one armed warrior.
I taught her to use the empty sleeve as a distraction and also as if there were an arm in it, and so Vicky did katas that way and she looked great.
We showed her how to fight with one arm as well.
Jijokumon is the opposite of Roshimon
Roshimon is the Gates of Heaven. Jijokumon is the gates of Hell
I named the Vermont dojo the "Gates" for many reasons and the symbol is very appropiate as well as the ritual
of passage through the gates.
Mostly the Vermont students were made to feel like they were in Hell
To my family, friends, and colleagues;
On Tuesday night (10/27/09) at around 8:30pm a fire broke out in the home of a very close and dear friend-Terri Heuman in Little Silver, NJ. Her home is now “uninhabitable” and she is presently in a hotel provided by the Red Cross BUT will only be there for 3 nights.
I have been studying Budo for over 37 years and over those years we have all seen the fads, the movies, the change in attitudes and respect. I guess I just need to vent to myself out loud and if anyone is listening that is fine , but this is more of long winded kiai for the purging of the soul and mind.
Happy Birthday Bob Ratzker Nov 2nd and Stewart Ratzker Sensei Nov 27th
We wish you well good health and many more years of joy and friendship

It was Jay Bruno who was known for his Red Corvettes and the name "North Wind" from the Gates of Hell that taught me about the "Pebble in the Pond"
Yes. The pond does show ripples once it has been interuped by a pebble and once calm, it is true there is now a Pebble in the Pond
Lenchus
I recently purchased a CD on H. Kanazawa Sensei.
He is 72 years old in this instructional CD and looks great.
He is classy and sharp as well as very clear on his moves and techniques.
He demonstrates the many different defenses you can apply while being attacked and most of the defense is not straight line but to the side.
The way the Uke and Tori move is very classical and how they return reminds me of true style.
The moves are crisp and clean, and I recommend this to everyone to see what most judges as well as teachers look for.
He is writing short articles for www.hubpages.com
Please visit the site. If there is enough interest people like Amazon, Adsense, etc may want to
link up with him
Actually he is writing because he enjoys it, but has not received many "Hits"yet
Thank You
Stewart
This picture is typical of many moments that I have seen walking along chinatown in the morning finding Lenchus Sensei practicing Tai Chi with someone like Sifu Shah
