MY FINEST CREATION!!

MY FINEST CREATION!!

I have just finished creating my latest sword! To commemorate my celebrating 25 years in the martial arts! It is something I am very proud of. I want to thank my Nihon connection for the terrific antique sword fittings that they sent me.
Without them it would have been just another Katana!
Arigato!
I present to you! KURIOKAZI (BLACKWIND)

Announcement From the SOKESHIP COUNCIL

Dan "The Beast" Severn

I know many of you have watched Mixed Martial Arts and have varying opinions.

You must all agree that the fighters are in great shape and take quit a beating.

Although I am a purist in most senses, I do believe in learning as much as i can and expierencing as much as I can for my knowledge base before I make any pre judgements.

Everything I learn adds to my arsonel. Many Karate students never really work on ground fighting and many wrestlers and Judo students hardly focus on toe to toe fighting like boxing.

From White to Black

The next dojo I open will have only three color belts
White. Brown, Black.
Only the strong will survive
Rank never was that important to us except to help the students feel they were
accomplishing their goal towards Black Belt
I understand training little warriors which will define their lives and give them direction.
I believe training youngsters will introduce them at an early age into Bushido with
dignity, honor, respect,perserverance, and loyalty
It will give them confidence as well as determination and a goal

Problem

I have a problem.

As much as I try to accept what is going on in the martial arts today it pulls me apart.

As many times as I have been to "Hall of Fame" Awards ceremony I feel cheap and that I did nothing to earn an award.

I also have a major ego problem. In some events I am barely recognized by the promoter when I certainly came way before the promoter or even his teacher who in some cases was my student.

Lenchus Sensei and the 50th Anniversary of the house of the Legend

Lenchus Sensei and the 50th Anniversary of the house of the Legend

Lenchus Sensei likes to say that he opened up his first dojo in his mothers basement while he was in High school around 1954-1957.

Having returned to New York after living in California Lenchus Sensei would teach his friends the Hawaiian Kempo Karate that had been taught to him by his teacher Pete.
