Gichin Funakoshi was born in 1868 and began studying martial arts at a very young age, under Master Anko Azato and Master Yasutsune Itosu.
To the left is a photograph of O'Sensei Ginchin Funakoshi, age 12 who is directly to his instructors right. That instructor was the Shuri-te Master Yasutsune Itosu. Besides being a proficient martial artist, Itosu was an educator and President of the Middle School system of Okinawa.
Our Hearts break having to relay the news that my dear friend Shihan Bruce Sorrento passed away. He died in his home without pain.
The wake was held at Scarpaci Funeral Home – 1401 86th Street in Brooklyn, New York (86th & 14th Ave)
There was a one day of viewing Sunday 14-March 2010 from 2-5pm & 7-9:30pm
A mass was held on Monday March 15th 2010 at 9:30am, in Our Lady of Refuge Church
Vito Agate Sr. the father of Shihan Vito Agate who frequently pratices with us at the Legend 34th Street Dojo passed way last week. Our heart go out to him
Passing of two wonderful people in the last month were Hanshi Steve Kaufmans Father in his nineties and Chris Prices Grandmother in her sixties

2. This is a good practice in making a punch mainly with the breath strongly dispatched from the powerful trained breath pooled in your stomach by operating it at various directions according to the ‘’Hachiriki ‘’.
