I reflect on the last few years and with sadness, I remember those who have pasted, but with gladnness thank them for being a part of my life.
As we move on every day I try to make a difference. I try to contribute through my teachings and with laughter and humility
I try to be a part of our great society and give back by being a part of people I can relate with and whose views are similiar such as "Knights" Warriors for a peaceful society.
Tode Sakugawa (1733-1815) became a prominent figure in Okinawan Martial Arts. In fact, he is considered to be the first true teacher of Okinawan Karate. Sakugawa's martial art was a mixture of Shuri-Te and Chinese Kenpo. In 1756, Sakugawa became a student of the Chinese military envoy Kusanku (also Kushanku). Kusanku was a highly skilled Kenpo master and famous for his fighting ability.
Many of you do not know my friend Joel Diamond, so let me tell you a little about him
FIRST and very Importantly
HE IS LEGEND KARATE!!!
So this means he is "Family" in the Legend Martial Arts and in ALL Martial Arts world he is a Brother.
Understanding our history allows us to more deeply know Karate do. Most of us see Shotokan Karate as a Japanese Art while true, our Okinawan Roots allow us to more deeply understand technical aspects of our art.
History plays an exciting role in the development of our art and understanding it reveals to us some of its hidden inner truths.
