I am opening a discussion to see what you think about the state of "Our Art"
I understand that in many ways tradition is not the same as it was 50 years ago or even 10 years ago.
I also understand the "Split" from American vs Asian martial arts.
We don't always "Bow in" or Meditate or even use Japanese or Korean or Chinese terms.
We don't all follow the history or revere our past . We make up our own styles and promote ourselves to whatever rank we like and expect everyone to bow to us as commander and chief.
Last night we worked out at the 34th dojo and Lenchus Sensei was inspired. Lately our work outs have been reminiscent of work outs of the past. like a House of the Legend class of 40 Years ago.
The class was wonderful my personal performance would have been great if I was the yellow belt of forty years ago but it was not up to my ability or rank.
It is a sad announcement when you lose a member of your family or dear friend Harvey was a beautiful man who never seemed to age.
Dick Clark and Peter Pan wrapped in One Harvey was good at anything he did.
In Martial Arts he studied with Maynard Miner, George Coefield, Sensei Mori, Sensei Nishiyama, Ohara, and Me. He was 15 when he first joined me, and if you read my book; Coney Island Sensei, he is in there quiet a few times.

This is Grandmaster Lenchus in Japan as a body builder and Martial art Black Belt
The smiling face beaming from the center, is that of the great Patrick McCarthy, historian, writer, teacher, and lecturer.
Alongside is Rick Lenchus, James Keller, and Allan Fisher
The Asian gentleman is also a martial artist who owned the sushi bar.
I forgot his name and style. Anyone remember?
Not To long ago O'Sensei visited the Long Island Swordsman for a book signing and to fence with the club. To the left of Lenchus Sensei is the Head Coach of Hunter College Fencing team Tibi Sala
